Clancy’s

Clancy’s roots go back to the 1940s when the Clancy family opened a bar and po-boy shop in this location. The Clancys sold the building and name around 1981 and in 1983 and one of the best classic creole restaurants in the city launched in Uptown New Orleans.

The menu changes frequently to integrate seasonal items – and specials are always worth considering. When ordering from the menu I start with fried green tomatoes with crabmeat and hollandaise. I toss a coin when ordering my entrée and either opt for house smoked duck or baby drum. Save room for dessert and a cup of coffee and chicory.

I like to sit downstairs in either the main dining room or the small room next to the bar. Request one of these locations when making your reservations.
Service is highly professional and always seek the advice of your server before ordering.

With one of the best small bars in the city and an outstanding wine list, I like to arrive 30 minutes early for a pre-dinner drink.
